Latin 1 and Mythology

Ages: 8-14

Description: This 16-week course will serve to introduce students to the Latin language, Ancient Roman culture, and Mythology. Our curriculum is based on the Cambridge Latin course, but we shall be employing various other types of educational methodologies. Traditional Latin courses have focused on reading, but this course will ask students to communicate in Latin as much as possible as we discuss topics such as the Roman house and family, food (both ancient and modern), animals, numbers, and simple commands. There will be several performative projects as students learn to talk about themselves and their world in Latin.

Price: 16 classes (and 2 COVID-19 BUFFER DAYS are automatically included if needed - see cancellation policy to learn more): $500/student in person, $400/student virtually. Drop-in: $40 per class if space and instructor permits in person, $35 per class for virtual. Teacher 1:1 make ups: $65 per class, virtual. Click for discount info.

Dates: This class meets once a week for 50 minutes. There are two in-person sessions available, Sunday afternoon or Monday evening, and one Sunday virtual session.

Make Ups: Because of the progressive nature of the class and COVID, here is the make-up policy:

Make up the class for free in the virtual session on Sunday that’s published below, if there is room and the teacher allows.
Make up the class 1:1 at a different time that can be arranged with the teacher, paid, $60 per class.
Can’t allow in-person makeups to avoid mixing cohorts because of COVID-19.

You will pick one session when registering. We will need all seats to be filled to run each class. If a class doesn’t fill, you might be offered another session. Don’t just show up-wait for a registration/confirmation email.
