Executive Functioning in the Gifted

Your brilliant child can’t remember to turn in work, finish work, or break the work down into manageable parts that are not overwhelming. Maybe they flunked their executive functioning task on the neuropsych assessment or, paradoxically, they are multiple standard deviations above the norm in that area and yet… and yet it’s not online in real life. What to do? Maybe transitions are a mess. Maybe you either have to provide pacing or nothing gets done, and you don’t know if they’ll grow into it or if they will need help. Study habits and skills have varying quality. Maybe, getting going is hard, or staying on tasks, or remembering. Your child needs help - learn about options about how to support your child the best.

Midwest Academy for Gifted Education and the Chicago Gifted Community Center bring you a Free Gifted Parenting Education Series, centrally located in the City of Chicago at Milwaukee and Division. The format of each event in the series is a 30-minute expert panel presentation on the topic, followed by a 15 minute questions for the panelists and a 15 minute mingle. The idea is to bring together a parent of gifted child, a mental health professional, and a gifted educator, for different perspectives and ideas around solutions.
